Deadlines: The entry period opens January 1, 2012 and closes at midnight Pacific Time on the new deadline April 14, 2012.
Submissions: Only electronic submissions will be accepted; do not send prints or mail other materials to our office. Entries are accepted at spring2012contest@blueearth.org. We will send an acknowledgement of your entry upon receipt. Please include your full name, e-mail, and phone number in the message along with your photo(s). Incomplete entries will not be considered.
Images:
- must be in .jpeg format; high quality scans of film images are permitted
- must be at least 1,000 and no more than 3,000 pixels per side
- must include a Title and Description in the metadata (in IPTC, Description is stored as Caption)
- files should be named "lastname_firstname.jpg" and numbered if more than one image is submitted
- should have your copyright attached to the file in the metadata
Fees: The entry fee is $25 for one photo, $5 per additional photo, and may be paid via the form below.
Proceeds from this contest will benefit Blue Earth's mission and help Blue Earth support our sponsored documentary projects.

Contest Rules
Who may enter: This photo contest is open to anyone 18 or over. Entries by amateur and professional photographers are welcome. Obviously, you may enter only photographic images that you personally produced.
Copyrights: You retain all copyrights to any submitted images. Blue Earth makes no claim to the copyright of any submitted images. Blue Earth only reserves the right to use your photo exclusively for the purpose of judging contest entries; including an appropriate thumbnail in temporary, online contest galleries; promoting the Blue Earth photo contest; and/or including the winning photos in the Blue Earth "Honors" gallery.
Consent: By submitting your photo to the contest, you certify that you are the producer of the photo and retain the copyright permissions to submit the image to this contest. You also certify that you are eligible to enter the contest under these rules and agree to these rules.
Prizes: The decisions of the contest judges are final. Blue Earth will determine eligibility and award prizes at its sole discretion. Winners will be announced after the deadline. Blue Earth will contact contest winners to arrange delivery of prizes; if Blue Earth is unable to contact a winner to arrange prize delivery within a reasonable timeframe, the prize will be forfeit. If you are a winner, you may be required to provide Blue Earth with additional identifying information for IRS tax reporting purposes.
Restrictions: Entries must be photographic in nature and made using a camera - images created exclusively through digital means are not permitted. No active Blue Earth volunteers, staff, or currently sponsored project photographers may enter the contest. This photo contest is void where prohibited by law.
